Coming Home- November 7th

We were able to leave the hospital today- and we were excited to bring our new addition home! The weather was absolutely gorgeous- a great sign that things were going to go well. Elisa went in the house first to greet the dogs, since they had not seen her for almost a whole week. They were happy to see her of course, and they were sniffing her and the stuff that she had in her hand that smelled like Luci. Then Carolyn came in the door with Luciana and her car seat. All in all they did well with her- Leo was a spaz as usual, licking her car seat and attempting to give her a bath (he did get a couple of licks in). Uno was amazing- he sniffed her seat, sniffed her, gave her one quick little kiss, and then was satisfied. Sneakers was just happy that we were home so that she could go to the bathroom! :)
We toured Luciana through the house, videotaping her at the same time. She was so excited that she slept through it all! It must be a sign that she was content enough that she didn't need to be awake.
We had some visitors stop by, so she was able to meet more relatives. Everyone was excited to meet her and hold her for the first time.
The first night home was a bit of a different story. It went ok- nobody got a ton of sleep, but it was not entirely exhausting either. The hardest part was that she was really fussy- we think she was either really gassy, or constipated, or a combination of both- and that did not make her happy. We managed to rotate shifts though, as much as we could, and we survived our first night at home!
