May 2009 - The Baby's Room

Over the past year we have accumulated used, but nice, baby stuff like a crib, changing table, etc. that we put in one of our spare bedrooms that we knew would someday be the official baby room. We had most of it in storage in the basement, but our remodeling project downstairs encouraged us to bring it up and have it in the room instead of gathering more dust and dirt downstairs while we were drywalling, painting, etc. The other plus side was that we had accommodations for other peanuts that came and visited us. Now that we are offically pregnant, though, we can move forward and finish off the room. The theme is underwater- ocean creatures specifically. We got the theme from a wall hanging that Cynda found- it has whales, and fish, and cute animals. We also purchased some bedding for the crib- on clearance from Babies R Us. The room, if you have seen it, is staying the purplish-grayish-bluish color (an Oops paint color that was at Home Depot several years ago for five bucks), but we are highlighting one wall with white squares of ocean animals, drawn and painted by Elisa. So while Carolyn touched up the spots on the walls and painted the closet, Elisa taped off the squares. Carolyn painted them off-white when she was done. Now they are all ready for Elisa to start drawing and painting. Look forward to more updated pictures as more work is completed!
